Former US President George HW Bush passed away on Friday (early Saturday morning IST), the family said in a statement. He was 94.

Popularly known as Bush senior, he was the 41st President of USA and was in office for one term, from 1989 to 1993. His son George W Bush, the 43rd President of USA, announced his father’s death in a statement.
“Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George HW Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for,” George W. Bush said in a statement released on Twitter by a family spokesman.
The World War II hero-turned-diplomat steered America through the end of the Cold War as President of USA.
Born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts, Bush senior flew combat missions during World War II.
