GUWAHATI: Former Lok Sabha speaker Purno Agitok Sangma was fondly remembered on his death anniversary on Thursday.
The family members of the former Meghalaya chief minister including his widow Soradini K Sangma, son and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and daughter and Tura MP Agatha K Sangma paid tributes to P A Sangma at his final resting place.

On the other hand, NEDA convenor and Assam finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also remembered Sangma on his death anniversary.
“Late PA Sangma was a towering politician, an extraordinary administrator and a grand visionary. On his punya tithi, I pay my finest respect to this loved leader, who taught us so much. Your vision, ideas and ideals remain our inspiration,” Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Meanwhile, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) also observed the death anniversary of the leader who had passed away in 2016.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. G.D. Sharma, vice-chancellor of the university said that USTM is grateful to Late P A Sangma as he had played a vital role during the enactment of the USTM Act in the Meghalaya Assembly in 2008.
“Late P A Sangma was a visionary leader who wanted to nurture the young minds through education,” the VC said.
