Forest department employees arrested with Rhino horn in Kaziranga

GUWAHATI: Two forest department employees currently posted in Boichamari camp in Kaziranga National Park have been arrested on Sunday. The duo was arrested with Rhino horns and are suspected to be associated with the illegal trade of rhino horns.

The two are Sonia Orang, forest guard, and Dipen Kumar Nath, home guard.

“Last year their team recovered and submitted 4 rhino horns and today we came to know that they kept a broken piece and hid it.
After investigation, we came to know that the rhino horn was in their possession illegally. We have registered a case and investigations are on.

Almost 10 people have been arrested so far in connection with the last year’s incident, and today’s incident is a separate case,” said a forest official.
