For Congress, a family is more important than country: Ranjeet Dass

GUWAHATI: “For Congress, a family and their party are more important than the country,” alleged Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Thursday.

BJP has been observing ‘Black Day’ from June 25 to 27 to mark 45 years of the internal emergency declared by former prime minister Indira Gandhi on June 25 in 1975. Emergency has remained one of the most controversial periods in Indian democracy.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati Ranjeet Dass said, “Former president of Indian National Congress (INC) Devkanta Baruah who hailed from Assam also believed that Gandhi family was more important than the country. He called India is Indira, Indira is India,”

Dass hit out at former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi for his role during emergency. He alleged that Devkanta Baruah, then president of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed and Tarun Gogoi were also part in the conspiracy in diminishing democracy in the country.
