GUWAHATI: A devastating fire broke out at Assam’s Lanka under Hojai district in the wee hours today. Around 15 shops turned into ashes in the fire which took place near Lanka Rail Station.
It is suspected that the fire broke out from cooking gas cylinder at a restaurant which immediately spread to several other shops in the area.
Later, fire tenders arrived on the spot and took fire under control after 2 hours effort. According to shopkeepers, properties worth rupees several lakh have been lost in the fire.
