Guwahati: A fire broke out late night on Sunday at Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh. The fire broke out at around 11 PM in the ICU Mother and Child Care unit of AMCH.
According to reports, a child, who was in the intensive care unit (ICU) with ventilation support, died after the disconnection of electricity due to the fire.
The newborns were safely evacuated to the other departments of the hospital.
The incident created panic among the patients and attendees present at the hospital.
Due to the rush in the hospital some patients were injured too.
The fire was doused in the late-night hours today by officials of the fire department.
The injured persons are being treated.
The incident sparked panic and fear among the locals.
A short circuit is believed to have caused the fire; however, the reason is yet to be ascertained.
