Elon Musk sets Twitter ‘Blue Tick’ fee at $8 per month

PUBLISHED:

Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday (November 1) announced that people will have to pay $8 per month for the verified blue tick on their account.

“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Musk said in a series of tweet.

Musk also said that price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.

The billionaire, who recently took over the microblogging site said the users who have blue tick will also get priority in replies, mentions, and searches, which is essential to defeating spam/scams. They will also get to post long videos and audio.

Musk also said that will be a paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with Twitter.

“You will also get: Priority in replies, mentions and search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam. Ability to post long video and audio. Half as many ads. And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us,” Musk said.

“This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators,” Musk further added.
