Educational institutions in Assam reopen today

GUWAHATI: The educational institutions in Assam have reopened today after 8 months of closure forced by COVID-19 pandemic. Classes for students of standards VI to XII and all undergraduate, degree colleges, engineering colleges, polytechnics, universities and private training and coaching institutes restarted from today.

The educational institutions were closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Classes for IX to XII standard students had partially resumed from September 21.

However, classes for students of standards I to V will continue to remain suspended until further orders.

The Assam government has notified a detailed SOP (standard operating procedure) for fresh reopening of classes in all schools and colleges for maintaining the protocols of safety guidelines under the COVID-19 pandemic. A staggered timetable will be followed for all the classes from VI to XII.
