GUWAHATI: Targeting Congress for aligning with AIUDF in the Assam assembly elections, NEDA convenor and Assam minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said each vote to Congress would help AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal get nearer to Dispur.
“Each vote to Congress would help Badruddin Ajmal get nearer to Dispur. Congress had Mahatma Gandhi, Gopinath Bordoloi and Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan. Even Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was also associated with Congress during freedom struggle. But today, this party has joined hands with Badruddin Ajmal,” Sarma said at an election rally in Biswanath on Tuesday.
The minister alleged that Congress has polluted the environment of the State by aligning with AIUDF.
“Each vote to Congress will weaken us, it will compel us to surrender ourselves to Ajmal,” Dr. Sarma predicted.
He also asserted that voting Congress-led grand alliance would even make the rhinos in Kaziranga unsafe.
