GUWAHATI: As the Social Media platforms are being flooded with fake news in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed the citizens to check the authenticity of the information.
“Please go for authentic sources. Most of the fake news originated from outside the country. Don’t believe in them you receive through Whatsapp. Rely on the social media accounts with blue tick. These are run by responsible people,” minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said while briefing the media persons on state government’s preparedness to fight Coronavirus.
He also asked the mainstream media to play a proactive role in curbing the menace of fake news.
