Dibrugarh Police gifts Janmoni a bike to sell vegetables

GUWAHATI: Dibrugah Police gifted a moped to Janmoni Gogoi, a young girl from Dibrugarh district who got admiration from everyone with her story of selling vegetables door to door on a bicycle. The picture of Janmoni selling vegetables with her bicycle went viral on social media and drew praises from the netizens.

Inspired by her commitment and self-respect, Pallabi Majumdar, deputy superintendent of police (headquarter) of Dibrugarh gifted the young entrepreneur a moped.

Janmoni who is a resident of Saphakati, Ghogora Gaon of the Bogibeel area sells vegetables at Borbaruah market to support her parents. She has completed her higher secondary education from Dibrugarh Government Girls’ HS School and dreams to pursue higher education. After the nationwide lockdown was imposed, she started selling vegetables door to door on a bicycle.

Janmoni’s father has been ailing since 8 years. She assists her mother in selling vegetables at Borbaruah market. But due to the lockdown as they can’t go to Borbaruah market she started selling vegetables door to door on a bicycle.
