GUWAHATI: The Daniel Topno murder case hearing will be held today at the Gauhati High Court. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora is one of the accused in the case.
Daniel Topno, a tea garden community student leader was murdered under mysterious circumstances on 27 September, 2000 in Gohpur. Topno had contested against Ripun Bora in the 1996 Assam Assembly Election from Gohpur constituency on All India Tiwari Congress ticket.
Ripun Bora and one more accused Pulin Bora had been discharged by the Kamrup District and Sessions Court in 2014 due to lack of evidence. After a revision petition the Gauhati High Court had asked Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to place before it the records of the murder of Daniel Topno against Ripun Bora.
