Cuttack ODI: India beat West Indies by 4 wickets, win 3-match series 2-1

GUWAHATI, Dec 22: India defeated West Indies by 4 wickets in the third and final one-dayer of the series at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack to clinch the 3-match series 2-1.

Incidentally, it’s the 10th consecutive series victory for Team India in all formats of the game as the Indian squad ended 2019 on a very high note.

After being put into bat by Virat Kohli who won the toss, West Indies scored 315 for 5 in their stipulated 50 overs. Nicholas Pooran played another blistering knock for the visitors as he scored a 64-ball 89 while skipper Keiron Pollard made 74 from 51 balls.

Navdeep Saini, who made his ODI debut, was the most successful bowler for India picking up 2 wickets for 58.

In reply, India reached the winning target in 48.4 overs losing six wickets. Skipper Virat Kohli shone with the bat yet again making 85 (81) while Ravindra Jadeja (39 off 31) and Shardul Thakur (17 from 6) held their nerves to seal off a well-deserved victory for the Men in Blue.

KL Rahul scored 77 (89) while Rohit Sharma made a run-a-ball 63 as they stitched together 122 runs for the first wicket and lay a solid foundation for the rest of the batters.

While Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match, Rohit Sharma walked away with the Player of the Series award.
