GUWAHATI: Amid the surge of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam, the health department has been increasing the number of beds for COVID-19 treatment at different hospitals. The Assam health department has made adequate arrangements at Sonapur District Hospital for dedicated COVID-19 treatment. The hospital has become functional with 108 beds.
Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the hospital on Wednesday and supervised the shifting of nine COVID-19 patients. He was accompanied by minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika.
Assam has so far reported 714 COVID-19 positive cases. The health department has been stepping up testing facilities as well as care and treatment arrangements in view of rising cases in the State.
