COVID-19: Over 2.5 lakh vaccine doses available with Assam

GUWAHATI: Till April 26, a stock of total 2,57,180 COVID-19 vaccine doses was available with Assam, stated health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

So far, 20,98,162 doses were administered. Out of these, 16,59,145 doses were used as first shot and  4,39,017 doses were administered as second shot.

On Monday, a total of 76,380 doses were administered.

Sharing the vaccine status of the State, health minister Sarma wrote in his tweet: “COVID-19 vaccine and coverage status of Assam as on 26.04.21

Total Vaccinated today 76,380

Total vaccines available in stock 2,57,180.”

As far as COVID-19 infection in Assam is concerned, the State recorded 3,137 new positive cases on Monday. Out of these, 1,153 cases were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan district which pushed the administration to shut down all the educational institutions in Guwahati for next 15 days  till May 11. 

Meanwhile, Gauhati University has postponed all its examinations in the light of current COVID-19 situation. All the examinations in its affiliated colleges and institutions were postponed. 

Earlier on Monday, Cotton University also issued a notification suspending undergraduate 1st semester examinations following the rise of COVID-19 cases in the capital city.
