COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma holds meeting with private nursing homes-hospitals

GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday had a meeting with the private nursing homes, hospitals, hoteliers and members of their association in Guwahati to discuss preparedness to deal with COVID-19 situation in the State.

“A decision has been taken that nursing homes will keep a hotel each which will be used to increase the number of beds. Apollo Hospital has already decided to take Ginger Hotel. Ayursundra also roped in with a hotel. Dispur Polyclinic has decided to take Hotel Amborish,” said Sarma after the meeting.

The minister also urged all the nursing homes in Guwahati to set up their own oxygen units. He said the government would provide all the necessary help in this regard.

“We urge all the nursing homes in Guwahati to set up their own oxygen plants so that minimum .8 matric ton oxygen can be produced. The Assam government will provide interest free loan if needed,” Sarma added.
