COVID-19: Email address to receive e-pass if you are stranded outside Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam government on Saturday issued an email address where people from Assam who are stranded outside can mail their details. Speaking to media persons at a press conference in Guwahati, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma explained the procedure to follow to return back to Assam.

People of Assam who are stranded in other states and who are willing to return to Assam in their own vehicles or rented vehicles that they can manage on their own should e-mail their details to [email protected] for e-pass.

“Those who want to travel through their own vehicles should email in [email protected] They will be contacted back and will receive the e-pass through email and they may return to Assam after receiving the e-pass,” said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

It is to be mentioned that the curfew timing for Assam has been changed and will now be imposed across Assam from 6PM to 6AM every day till further notice. Anyone availing the e-pass facility must reach their designated places before the curfew starts. The minister asked the people to fix their travel timings accordingly.

There are around 20 lakh people from Assam who are outside the state. The minister said that the state government will not stop anyone from coming back to their motherland but urged that only those, for whom returning back is necessary and important should apply to come back. He further requested that those who can stay back and are in green zones should stay there and not put unnecessary burden on the state.

The Assam Government has also released a new helpline number 7428159966 for those stranded outside the state. Those who want to return back to Assam have been asked to give a missed call to this number. ADGPS GP Singh and Harmeet Singh have been made the nodal officers to oversee the entire process.
