COVID-19: Demand for oxygen rises in Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed media persons on Sunday that demand for intensive care unit (ICU) and oxygen beds for COVID-19 patients is increasing in the state.

“We have been planning at the tertiary level now. Therefore, we have closed the Kalapahar COVID Care Centre and Ayurvedic College Hospital. In next two days, we will arrange ICU and oxygen beds there,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Dr. Sarma stated that the number of serious COVID-19 patients is increasing in the state which make the availability of ICU and oxygen a major cause of concern.
