Coronavirus: Suspected Biswanath man shifted to Tezpur Medical College

GUWAHATI: A man admitted at Biswanath Civil Hospital has been shifted to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital as he was found to have symptoms of Coronavirus disease.

Meanwhile, all primary tests have been conducted and the patient is being transferred to Tezpur Medical college for further tests and treatment.

This 40-year-old man who is employed in Kerela returned to Assam on Wednesday and visited Biswanath Civil Hospital as he was suffering from cold and flu.

Keeping his travel history in mind the officials at Biswanath Civil Hospital suspected the patient to be suffering from Coronavirus disease and kept him under proper observation.

“He was admitted yesterday evening. He informed us that he arrived Assam on Wednesday from Kerela and looking at his travel history, we doubt he may be positive so we have undergone all the primary tests and procedures for coronavirus affected. He is the first suspected Coronavirus affected patient in Biswanath Civil Hospital,” said Dr. Jonali Gogoi, Superintendent of Biswanath Civil Hospital.

Gogoi added, “We kept him in the isolation ward and our officials took proper precautions while conducting his tests.”

It is to be mentioned that Kerela has the highest confirmed positive Coronavirus cases in India.
