GUWAHATI: Amid 21-day nationwide lockdown necessitated by Coronavirus concerns, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal appealed people to stay at home to prevent the spread of deadly disease.

“I request you with folded hands to observe lockdown considering the gravity of the situation. Stay at home; do not venture out to the streets. The state government is ready at your doorstep to provide essential items and services,” Sonowal said in a video posted on his official social media accounts.

“We have noticed people thronged in many places of Guwahati to buy vegetables and meat. This is unfortunate and dangerous. We should save our society and the state,” Sonowal added.

He urged the people to maintain social distancing strictly. CM Sarbananda Sonowal also appealed the senior citizens and the children below ten years to remain careful.
