Guwahati: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the people in quarantine to cooperate with the government in terms of the food provided to them.
Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged people in quarantine to stop complaining about the food quality as the state is dealing with a pandemic and the government is trying its best to provide everyone with adequate treatment and food.
Dr. Sarma added, “People coming from outside the state have started a dubious campaign. They have been complaining about the food. To be honest I cannot spare any Deputy Commissioner or any other officials to check the food quality. People need to understand that they are not attending any kind of marriage function or events. We are fighting a pandemic. People should understand the gravity of the situation”.
“Cleaners and other staffs are afraid to go and clean the bathrooms and the quarantine facilities. And I cannot force them at gun point to go and do the work. Everyone is working selflessly and the people should understand the efforts rather than pointing out fingers. Don’t demotivate people by coming up with these issues and please cooperate. I understand that that we are not able to provide you with very good food service but it’s not possible on our part to attend such things. People are still coming from outside on a regular basis and we need to provide adequate treatment rather than providing luxurious food,” said Dr. Sarma.
