Congress should be ashamed for aligning with Ajmal: Amit Shah in Assam

GUWAHATI: Addressing an election rally at Jonai in Assam’s Dhemaji district, union home minister Amit Shah strongly criticised the Congress party for aligning with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

“We worked for the development whereas Congress is forging an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal. If they come to power infiltration in the state will surge. Do you want to stop infiltration? Congress party should be ashamed for coming together with Ajmal,” Shah said.

Further, Shah alleged Congress brught instability and violence, but BJP brought development to Assam.

On Monday, the union home minister will address two other rallies at Majuli and Udalguri.

In Majuli, he will campaign for Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Sonowal was elected from Majuli, the largest river island of the world in 2016.

On the other hand, BJP national president JP Nadda is also cmapigning in the poll-bound state.

Speaking at a public meeting at Rajgarh Tea Estate Field in Dibrugarh, Nadda said, “Congress has hurt Assam’s culture. It never gave importance to security, which is why problems of Assam kept increasing. Congress hindered Assam’s development. During Bodoland protests, many were killed & kidnapped, infiltration had increased at the border at that time.”

Later, he will address rallies in Jorhat and Biswanath Chariali.
