GUWAHATI: Two-time Congress MLA from Lakhipur constituency of Barak valley Rajdeep Goala will join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), announced Assam finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
Goala was first elected to Assam Legislative Assembly in 2014 by-election which was necessitated following the demise of his father Dinesh Prasad Goala, a veteran Congress man.
Rajdeep Goala was re-elected in 2016 Assam Assembly elections.
On Thursday, Assam health finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma indicated that an influential MLA from Congress would join BJP within a few days.
