GUWAHATI: Congress Guwahati City president Dr. Jury Sharma Bordoloi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. She had recently resigned from the Congress along with Rupjyoti Kurmi, (MLA Mariani).
BJP state president, Bhabesh Kalita welcomed Jury Sharma Bordoloi to the saffron party in a joining ceremony held at BJP headquarters in Hengrabari.
Also present at the occasion were minister Pijush Hazarika and state BJP Organising Secretary Phanindranath Sarma and other party officials.
Earlier, Jury Sharma Bordoloi served as secretary at Indian National Congress – Assam and All India Mahila Congress. She was Congress candidate from 54 Gauhati West, in the 2016 Assam legislative assembly election.
Several other grassroots level workers and mid-level workers from Congress joined the BJP along with Jury Sharma Bordoloi.
