CM Sonowal pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Mandap

Guwahati:  Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday paid homage to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati.

The Chief Minister paid a floral tribute to Gandhi and paid respects to the leader.

At the celebrations in Guwahati, a rendition of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram (sometimes called Ram Dhun), the notable bhajan (Hindu devotional song) that was widely popularised by Mahatma Gandhi, rend the air. The bhajan is an excerpt from Sri Nama Ramayanam by Lakshmanacharya and was one of Gandhi’s favourites.

Taking to twitter CM Sonowal said, “Offered shraddhanjali to Bapu at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati. Also took part in an all religion prayer meet held on the occasion and prayed for continued peace & prosperity of Assam”
