GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday inaugurated Birsa Munda Stadium and unveiled a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Chapar Tea Estate in Dhubri district of the western part of the state.
The stadium has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 97.72 lakh under CSR scheme of Oil India Limited (OIL). CM Sonowal expressed hope that it would boost the sports infrastructure of the district.
Earlier, Sonowal inaugurated the former chief minister Sarat Chandra Sinha memorial park, an auditorium and the renovated house ‘Kopot Neer’ of the leader.
CM Sonowal also unveiled the statue of Sinha at Ratnapith College at Bahalpur.
