GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal today attended the 36th Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi, an ethno-cultural festival of the Singpho community undergoing at Inthem-Mungong, Margherita.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sonowal announced a grant of Rs. 25 lakh for the development of the Singpho community.

Sonowal also stated that the central government is giving much needed impetus to Act East Policy to strengthen the relationship of Assam with South-East Asia.
The Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi is organised by the Singpho community of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam jointly. A large number of Singpho people and tourists from Myanmar, Thailand and various parts of India.
