CM instructs to rebuild all Anganwadi centres in Assam

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday chaired a meeting with social welfare department to take stock of various ongoing schemes. In the meeting, Dr Sarma asked the department to rebuild all the Anganwadi centres and transform them into demonstrative child care centres.

“The CM directed to rebuild all Anganwadi Centres & transform them into demonstrative child care centres,” said chief minister’s office in a tweet.

Dr Sarma also set a target for the department to provide nutritious food for 300 days in 12 months to each beneficiary child in 0-6 years category.

The meeting was attended by social welfare minister Ajanta Neog and top officials of the department.

The chief minister also asked the minister and officials to ensure transparency by acting against unscrupulous contractors.
