CM Himanta urges Delhi Govt to expedite work on construction of Assam Cultural cum Convention Centre


Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today called on Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal to expedite work on the construction of an Assam Cultural cum Convention Centre.

“To cater to aspirations of large Assamese diaspora in Delhi & around we had requested Delhi Govt to allocate land to build an Assam Cultural cum Convention Centre. Called on Hon Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Sri Sri Anil Baijal to request him to expedite the matter,” Sarma wrote in a tweet.

In related news, a “North East Convention Centre” (NECC) for New Delhi has been finalized by the Government of India.
Dr Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, informed via Twitter that construction work will begin after completion of procedural formalities. Spread over 1.32 acres, the Convention Centre will be set up at Sector 13 in Dwarka, adjacent to the ISKCON temple on one side and Hotel Radisson Blu, on the other.
