Charge sheet in Batadrava PS burning case to be submitted in 10-15 days: Police

Guwahati, July 19: Nagaon Police will submit the charge sheet in the Batadrava PS burning case in 10-15 days, Central Assam DIG Satyaraj Hazarika said at Nagaon today.

Twelve out of the total 25 accused in the sensational incident of torching of Batadrava Police Station are now behind bars while Asikul Islam, one of the main accused, died after he was hit by a police car while trying to escape from police custody.

Among those still on the run is a woman named Majeda Khatun who was seen in videos pouring petrol and setting the police station on fire. A mob of around a hundred people had torched the Batadrava police station on May 21 after a fish-seller who was brought to the police station in an inebriated condition, died in custody of cops.
