GUWAHATI, Sep 21: By-polls in 64 legistative assembly constituencies in the country, including four LACs in Assam, will be held simultaneously with the assembly elections in Haryana and Mahashtra.
Counting of votes will take place on Oct 24, announced Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora in New Delhi this afternoon.

By-elections will be held in Ratabari, Rangapara, Jania and Sonari LACs. By-polls were necessitated following the election of Kripanath Malla, Pallab Lochan Das, Abdul Khalek and Topon Kumar Gogoi — who were representing Ratabari, Rangapara, Jania and Sonari respectively in the Assam assembly — to Lok Sabha in the parliamentary elections.
