GUWAHATI: In two different operations, troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier with police and apprehended two smugglers who belong to India. The BSF and police seized 32 Kg of ganja, 3463 pant piece and 450 bottles of phensedyl in the bordering areas of Siadelar Kutti in Coohbehar of West Bengal and Ghewmari of Assam’s Dhubri.
“Acting on tip-off, on 26th July 2020 at about 1315 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Choudharyhat, of 192 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a joint search operation with Police rep of PS Sahebganj in the house of Kamal Barman (34 Yrs) S/o Late Kalanath Barman, Vill- Saidelar Kutti, PS- Sahebganj, Distt- Coochbehar (WB) and recovered 31.8 Kg Ganja from his house & apprehended one Indian national namely Kamal Barman (34 Yrs) S/o Late Kalanath Barman, Vill- Saidelar Kutti, PO-Choudharyhat, PS- Sahebganj, Distt- Coochbehar (WB). Apprehended smuggler and seized contraband items have been handed over to PS Sahebganj, Distt Coochbehar (WB) for further legal action,” a press release issued by the public relations officer (PRO) of BSF Guwahati Frontier stated.
In the second operation on the same day, acting on a tip-off, troops of Border Out Post Ghewmari, of 67 Battalion of BSFcarried out a special operation in Ghewmari village of Dhubri and apprehended one cattle smuggler along with 5 cattle heads. Apprehended cattle smuggler was identified as 22-year-old Sahadat Ali Mondal who hails from Gachpara village in Dhubri.
“On 26th July 2020 at about 1630 hrs, as per information revealed by apprehended person, a joint searched operation was carried out with PS Dhubri in the house of Hafizuddin, S/o Tamizuddin Ali, R/o-Silghgri Part-I under PS & Distt Dhubri (Assam). During searched operation, the joint operation party recovered 08 bundles (Total-3463 nos) of pant piece and 48 Nos Saree from his house. Apprehended person along with seized items have been handed over to Police Station Dhubri (Assam) for further legal action,” the statement further added.
Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier in different operations launched in bordering area, have rescued 79 cattle heads and seized 450 bottles Phensedyl, which were trying to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
