GUWAHATI, Jan 22: Guwahati City Police and Kamrup Police have arrested six persons from Chhaygaon in Assam’s Kamrup district for posting a video on social media depicting cow slaughter.
The six youths, identified as Sahil Khan (20), Hafizur Islam (19), Rokibul Hussain (20), Sahidul Islam (30), Izaz Khan(26) and Jahidul Islam (24), are residents of Asalpara village under Chhaygaon Police Station of Kamrup district.
The six persons had gone for a picnic where they reportedly slaughtered the animal and posted a video of the same on social media.
After the incident came to light, a complaint was lodged at Hatigaon Police Station based on which Hatigaon Police registered a case (No 10/25) under section 13(1) of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act 2021 and Section 299/196(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The arrested persons were later brought to Hatigaon Police Station for further investigation.
