A youth hailing from Assam has reportedly gone missing in Kerala amid the devastating deluge. Binod Chhetri, hailing from Kandulimari village of Bokakhat, has not contacted his family members neither have they been able to establish any contact with him since the past couple of days.
Binod had gone to Kerala in search of a job and was reportedly working in an unorganized sector.
Binod’s family members have now sought the government’s help in tracing his whereabouts.
“We have had no contact with him since the past couple of days. I appeal to the Assam Government as well as your channel to trace him and bring him home,” Binod’s father said amid sobs.
Incidentally, four women from Assam who had gone to Kerala to take part in a handloom and handicrafts fair but were stranded at Chengannur town in Alappuzha district returned home yesterday (Aug 22). The return journey of the four women was possible after News Live’s Political Editor Chayamoni Bhuyan, who met them while reporting from ground zero in Kerala, established communications with the Assam chief minister’s office for their rescue.
The four stranded women were first brought to Thiruvananthapuram on Monday and finally arrived in Guwahati.
Many other people from Assam are stranded in the flood-hit State following the deluge.
