BJP to continue its alliance with AGP in Assam

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati:  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) confirmed that it would continue the alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for the upcoming 2021 Assembly elections.

Assam cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday made it clear that BJP will continue their alliance with AGP but will be very strict with the candidature for the seats for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “BJP and AGP will fight the election together but we will only allow those candidates to contest elections who will win the seats from their respective constituencies. We won’t let anyone contest the election whose image is not that good among the people irrespective of which party he belongs to. If the candidates have chances of winning the seats only then we will allow them to contest in the election.”

Commenting about the alliance of AIUDF and Congress the senior BJP leader said, “I urge the parties to unite and contest the election rather than fighting over seats. There is no need of chanting different names of parties in political rallies. They should all come up with one name and start preparing for the upcoming elections.”
