Guwahati: Assam health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that Home Minister Amit Shah has already decided as to who would be the party’s candidate from Assam for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

Clearing the air, the BJP strongman said that the party has decided to support its alliance partner Bodoland People’s Front for the second Rajya Sabha seat.

Dr. Sarma said, “Everybody knows that we have two seats. For one seat, Home Minister Amit Shah has already decided who will be contesting from our side. The central committee will make an official announcement very soon. For the remaining one seat we have decided to give it to the BPF as they are our alliance partner. From our side there is no second thought about it. It is an easy process and I believe everything will be fine”.

He also added, “We know we will get two seats and we are not concerned about the third seat. Whether the seat will be allocated to an anti-CAA protester or CAA supporter, or they keep it for themselves, it will be their decision.”
