GUWAHATI: Assam women boxers Bhagyabati Kachari and Pwilao Basumatary won two gold medals in the recently concluded 4th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships at the Mundayad Indoor Stadium, Kannur, Kerala
Interestingly, for Pwilao Basumatary, it was another Assam boxer Ankushita Boro who was against her in the final. Pwilao finally managed to win with a 3-2 score.
Bhagyabati Kachari won the gold in the 81 Kg category defeating Shaily Singh 5-0, whereas Pwilao and Ankushita Boro contested with each other in the 64 Kg category.
Bhagyabati Kachari and Pwilao Basumatary both represented the Railways whereas Ankushita Boro represented Assam.
Railways topped the medal tally with 6 gold medals. Others to win from Railways were Sonia Chahal, Jyoti, Monica and Pabitra.
