GUWAHATI: Sensation prevailed in lower Assam’s Barpeta after a miscreant set Guru Ashan of historic Ganakkuchi Satra on fire on Thursday. A youth allegedly entered the Vaishnavite site and set the Guru Ashan on fire. The incident triggered sensation in the area as Guru Ashan is immensely revered by the devotees.
Later local people arrived on the spot and caught the miscreant. He was handed over to police.
“It is a pre-planned act. There must be someone behind him,” said a devotee.
The local people have demanded stringent action against the culprit.
