Guwahati Police launched further search operations in Meghalaya’s Dawki on Saturday to recover the remaining body parts of Shankari Dey and her son Amarjyoti, two deceased in the gruesome double murder case.
Bandana Kalita, the prime accused in the bone-chilling double murder, along with her two accomplices Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka were on Saturday morning taken to Dawki for the third time to carry out searches at the hilltop where they had reportedly thrown away body parts of the two deceased after the brutal murders.
While Bandana Deka was taken to Dawki from Pan Bazar Women’s Police Station, her accomplices Arup Deka and Dhanjit Deka were whisked out of Noonmati Police Station where they were grilled and taken to Meghalaya.
Incidentally, the machete used in the murder was found by an investigating team from Bondajan beel on Thursday and was later sent for forensic analysis.
Police had also raided a store at Patharquary and detained the owner Imran Ansari for questioning. It has been learned that Bandana Kalita had bought the machete for Rs 320 from Imran.
Bandana Kalita, the main suspect in the Shaddha Walker-like murder, was sentenced on February 22 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court to remain in police custody for an additional six days.
Bandana was previously placed in police custody for five days, which ended on Wednesday, February 22, before being remanded for an additional six days.
It should be mentioned that Bandana Kalita is the main suspect. With the help of the two accomplices, she planned to kill her husband and mother-in-law.
The mother-and-son duo were killed, their bodies cut up before the trio threw the body parts in neighbouring Meghalaya.
In deep gorges at Dawki, the Guwahati Police found several missing parts of the body of the deceased Amarjyoti, including his hands and legs. In addition, the police found a T-shirt and the body of the deceased Amarjyoti in another location in Dawki.
