Assam’s Lombotor Singh was among the 3 security personnel killed in the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife and daughter. The body of martyred Lombotor will be brought home tomorrow.

Lombotor Singh had joined the CRPF in 2011 as GD.

According to official sources, the personnel were patrolling in Sukma district when they came under fire from Naxals at Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur-Sukma border on Tuesday.

While Lombotor belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the two other killed personnel were commandos of the specialised Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). They have been identified as constables Deven C and Pawan Kumar from the CoBRA 201.

It should be noted that a new security camp was established in Tekalgudem, a village on Bijapur-Sukma border, which is 616 kilometres from state capital Raipur to benefit the people of the area with basic facilities.

Notably, the incident took place hours after the new security camp was established.

Maoists opened fire on the security force while they were conducting anti-naxal operations in Jonaguda-Aliguda area.

After the encounter, the Maoists fled taking cover of the forest.
