Assam: Young entrepreneurs from Jorhat produce ‘Bahubali’ egg

GUWAHATI/JORHAT: Two young entrepreneurs from Jorhat have started an egg-producing unit in Jorhat where around 11 thousand eggs are being produced every day. Their target is to reach 60 thousand eggs per day by year’s end. High in protein they have named the eggs Bahubali and have received good response in Jorhat and nearby areas due to local sentiment.

Located in Chinamara, Jorhat this huge farm comprises 15 bighas of land and has five layer houses. Akash Jyoti Gogoi and Ankur Bora have set up this Layer Farm for producing eggs using modern technology and Layer Hens.

The idea for the farm came from Akash Jyoti’s father Prafulla Gogoi who advised his son to get into this business.  After initial hiccups both the boys finally succeeded in running the farm. It is now producing 11 thousand eggs per day.

“Our aim is to produce 60 thousand eggs per day by the end of this year. Markets in Jorhat need minimum 1 lakh eggs daily. For that we have to depend on imports. Our aim is to meet the demands of eggs in Jorhat,” said Akash Jyoti Gogoi.

The best part is the Layer Farm has generated employment to around 50 local youths. The farm also has a chicken feed producing unit.
