Assam: Two rhino calves die in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

Guwahati: Two rhino calves have died at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon, Assam in the past one week. According to the Forest Department, a rhino calf, which was rescued on Monday was injured in a head-on fight with another rhino and later succumbed to its injuries.

Again on Thursday morning, another rhino calf was found dead by the forest workers in the Tamulidoba area of Pobitora. The estimated age of the dead rhino calf is 2 years.

Assam Forest Department is conducting a post-mortem examination of the dead rhino calf. These two deaths have occurred within the same week.
