GUWAHATI: Two COVID19 patients have been discharged from Assam’s Sonapur District Hospital on Wednesday after they had tested negative in the latest tests. The patients from Morigaon district who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz have been discharged from the hospital in the presence of Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
46-year old Jonab Ali and 55-year old Nuruddin Ali from Morigaon district tested negative at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on April 13 and 14. Doctors also certified that they have completely recovered from COVID19.
Addressing a press meet at Sonapur Hospital, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “They are no longer patients now. They are now completely healthy. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) directives, both of them will undergo home quarantine for next 14 days. Since they don’t have adequate facilities at their home they will be at Jagiroad Paper Mill’s guest house for next 14 days. ”
However, another patient named Hajrat Ali though tested negative on April 13, tested positive today.
On the other hand, the two persons who have been released today expressed satisfaction over the treatment and arrangements of food and other facilities provided by the government.
