Assam starts plasma therapy at GMCH

GUWAHATI: In yet another milestone in the fight against COVID-19, the Assam health department on Thursday started plasma therapy at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati.

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma donning the personal protection equipment (PPE) kit joined the doctors and nurses while administering the plasma for the first time at GMCH ICU.

He urged all the potential donors to donate their plasma.

“I urge all potential donors to come forward and donate their plasma,” Dr. Sarma stated.

Dr. Lithikesh DS, a post-graduate student of GMCH who had tested positive for COVID-19 and later recovered was the first donor of the plasma bank which was started at the hospital on Friday last week.
