GUWAHATI: Crime Branch and CID have been conducting operations at various places in Guwahati to nab former Assam DIG Prasanta Kumar Dutta and Diban Deka, two prime accused in the Assam Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scam.
The sleuths of the Crime Branch conducted search operation at Bhargav Hotel owned by PK Dutta in the Lokhra locality in Guwahati on Friday night. Police seized the register of the hotel and detained manager Rupam Deka. The retired police officer has been untraced since Wednesday.
On the other hand, Crime Branch carried out operation at Krisha Apartment at Jatia in search of BJP leader Diban Deka on Friday night. Rajib Bharali, one of the closest accomplishes of Diban lives at Krishna Apartment. Diban Deka had frequently visited the apartment before he absconded. Crime Branch sleuths seized the monitor of the CCTV of the apartment.
The Crime Branch also conducted search operation at the residence of Diban Deka at Palacia Park in the Chachal area of the city.
“Around 10 sleuths came. They seized a laptop and a bank passbook. Diban Deka lived in this apartment. The cops also quizzed his wife,” said a resident of Palacia Park.
