GUWAHATI: The Assam government will kick off the Pragyan Bharati scheme on Sunday. Under the flagship scheme, scooties will be provided to the meritorious girl students who had passed the higher secondary (HS) second year examinations in first division.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the inaugural function at Amingaon in Kamrup district.
The ‘Hero’ company has already stored the two-wheelers at Suren Das College, Hajo to be distributed to the students of Kamrup district.
“Total 1,217 scooties will be kept here. We are done with the registration and other tasks,” said an employee of Hero.
