Guwahati: With COVID-19 positive cases coming down significantly in Assam, schools in the State will reopen for all classes from Feb 15, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announed today.
“We are monitoring the COVID19 situation in Assam, and with positive cases coming down significantly since the past many days, we are hopeful of reopening schools for all classes from Feb 15,” Chief Minister Sarma said.
The State government had in the beginning of this month shut down classes till Class 8 in Guwahati and till Class 5 in schools in other districts of the State following rising COVID19 cases and the threat posed by the Omicron variant.
The government, through another order effective from Jan 25, extended the closure of classes from 5th to 8th standard in all other districts as well. However, with positive cases as well as the positivity rate coming down significantly, the government has decided to reopen all classes from Feb 15.
