Guwahati: All the elementary schools in Assam for students up to class 8 will remain closed in the districts where total number of COVID-19 cases reached 100-mark in the last ten days, said health and family welfare minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in Guwahati.
Replying to the questions of the media persons, Dr. Sarma said, “All schools up to class 8 will remain closed provided that the district has total number of 100 positive cases in last 10 days.”
Earlier a notification was issued to shut the elementary schools for up to class 5 in the districts where COVID-19 case load reached 100.
“We have issued a notification last week closing down elementary schools up to class 5. Today, we have issued another notification closing down elementary schools up to class 8,” he said.
DCs of districts, where active #COVID19 cases cross 100 on a particular day, have been authorised to suspend physical classroom assembly of students of Class VI to VIII in pvt & public schools. Online classes to be made available.
