Assam: Schools, colleges to resume physical classes from tomorrow

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday issued a Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) notice for the educational institutions in the state where it has been mentioned that all the schools and colleges will resume their physical classes from tomorrow, i.e, Monday, September 6.

Starting tomorrow, the classes will start for standard XII up to the post-graduate level, as stated in the official notification.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has commented regarding the sitting structure and arrangement in schools and colleges inside the classrooms.

According to the fresh SOPs, classes on offline mode till Class 11 will, however, remain suspended.

Moreover, the students who will attend the offline classes, need to get themselves vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The students whose classes will resume from Monday will also be allowed to stay in hostels, but they need to get themselves fully vaccinated.

Moreover, for class 12, the students need to be above the age of 18 to attend classes.

On the other hand, schools and colleges have been directed to accommodate only 30 students in a single classroom at a single time.

The education department has also instructed the teachers of the lower classes to continue with the online classes.

He also informed that all the lower classes will be open for students in the next phase, keeping in view the improving covid-19 situation in the state.
