Assam: Rs 50,000, 1 tola gold to girls of marriageable age who lose parents to COVID

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni for providing relief to children who lose their parents to COVID-19. Sarma made a slew of announcements for providing assistance in education, employment and marriage of such children.

Addressing a press meet at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Dr Sarma said, “In case of any girl of marriageable age having lost her parents, Govt of Assam will provide one tola of gold under Arundhati scheme and one time assistance of Rs 50,000 for her marriage.”

On the other hand, CM Sarma said orphan adolescent girls will be accommodated in reputed institutions such as Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya to ensure their sensitive care and proper protection.
